On Tuesday evening at Le Grand-Saconnex, Fribourg Olympic wrote a new chapter in its history. With an 86-66 victory over the Geneva Lions in Game 4 of the play-off final, Thibaut Petit’s men secured the club’s 23rd Swiss championship title.
One year after losing its crown to that same opponent, Olympic is back at the summit of Swiss basketball. And this time, the title caps off an exceptional season marked by a national treble: the SBL Cup, the Patrick Baumann Swiss Cup and the Swiss championship.
Three Trophies, One Perfect Season
The first trophy came in February, with victory in the SBL Cup against the Geneva Lions. Two months later, in Gümligen, Fribourg Olympic won the Patrick Baumann Swiss Cup against Union Neuchâtel, 71-58, claiming its 13th title in the competition in the process.
On Tuesday evening, the championship completed the collection. Three finals, three victories, three trophies: Fribourg Olympic achieved the national grand slam.
Dominance Built on Consistency
Throughout the season, Olympic imposed its rhythm with remarkable consistency. On the national stage, the Fribourg side suffered only two defeats, confirming its strength game after game.
That control was also evident in the play-offs, with a perfectly managed final and a collective capable of stepping up in decisive moments. Among the key figures behind this success, Chimezie Offurum particularly stood out in the final series, averaging 21.3 points and 6.3 rebounds.
A Title Won with an Entire Community
This season would not have had the same flavour without the support of the fans. At Saint-Léonard and Sainte-Croix alike, the supporters turned out in force, lifted the team, made noise and carried Olympic through both the highlights and the more tense moments.
The trophies are coming back to Fribourg, but they were built as much on the court as in the stands. The club would therefore like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the team throughout this historic season.

A magnificent page has just been written, but the next chapter is already beginning. Next season, Fribourg Olympic will defend its crown with the same ambition, the same standards and the same desire to thrill its supporters.
